What to do after an OT security assessment

An OT assessment lists gaps. The next job is to turn those findings into site-owned work and keep evidence as each task closes. Hillstrong runs that program. Resilion is the system that keeps it moving across the fleet.

The report is the input

Most plants have an assessment. The binder names zones, gaps, and recommended controls. It does not assign an owner on Site B, a close date, or a place to put the proof. Findings sit while production keeps running.

Hillstrong takes the findings you have and runs the program work: charters, RACIs, site-tiered tasks, and evidence as the work closes. If the report is an IEC 62443-3-2 pass, read IEC 62443 in practice. Read the OT security program maturity assessment if you need a baseline. Read assessment PDF vs a running program if you are comparing the binder to the work that follows.

The work that has to follow

  1. 01 · owners

Name a person for each finding. A control without an owner is a slide, not a task.

  2. 02 · site tiering

The same gap is not the same job on a Tier-1 process unit and a warehouse. Split the work by site criticality.

  3. 03 · governance you are missing

Draft the charter, RACI, and IR plan the assessment assumed you already had. Then route them as work.

  4. 04 · evidence on close

Store the attestation when the task closes. The audit pack is the byproduct, not a separate scramble.

A GRC register is a different job

OT GRC records whether a control exists. That is useful. It is not the same as running the work across a plant fleet. If you are comparing a running program to a GRC register, read OT GRC vs a running program.

Resilion ingests the assessment, policies, and standards you already have. It drafts missing governance, routes site-tiered tasks, and stores evidence as work closes. It does not touch control systems. See the Resilion platform or book a 30-minute demo.

// FAQ

After the assessment, answered

What should we do after an OT security assessment?
Assign an owner to each finding, tier the work by site criticality, and capture evidence as tasks close. Hillstrong runs that program. Resilion keeps it moving across the fleet.
Why do assessment findings stall?
The report has no owner, no site-specific task, and no place to put proof. Teams file the PDF, then the next outage or audit pulls them off the list.
Do we need another assessment first?
Use the assessment you paid for. Hillstrong feeds those findings into program design and operations. A new assessment is useful when the last one is stale or scoped to the wrong sites.
Where does Resilion fit after the report?
Resilion ingests the standards, policies, and findings you have, drafts the missing governance, routes site-tiered tasks, and stores evidence as work closes. It does not sit on the plant network.
